A closer look
Pigeons are actually feral domesticated pets, not wild animals, because humans spent thousands of years selectively breeding them for food, messaging, and companionship before completely abandoning them when the telegraph was invented. Those annoying birds eating trash at the train station are the avian equivalent of stray labradoodles that society just aggressively turned its back on. We engineered them to trust us, used them to build modern civilization and win wars, and then tossed them into the urban gutter the second we figured out how to send an electronic text. Hating pigeons is just a grim reflection of humanity’s refusal to take responsibility for its own biological cast-offs
