Constructed in 1866 under King Rama IV to connect the Mae Klong and Tha Chin rivers, the canal birthed a massive waterborne economy. Vendors maneuver narrow wooden boats overflowing with rambutan, coconuts, and scalding woks of noodles. The skill required to balance a sloshing vat of boiling peanut oil while rowing through a gridlock of camera-wielding tourists is nothing short of miraculous.
