A closer look
Before it was a global e-sports titan with an arcane Netflix show, it was a messy indie project running on spaghetti code. In the early days, Riot's proprietary engine was so terribly optimized that giving champions actual toes would crash the game. Instead, designers famously gave everyone giant, clunky 'pizza feet'—flat, triangular blobs painted to vaguely resemble boots, which fans mercilessly mocked for nearly a decade before they were finally patched out.
