Smuggling macromolecules straight through cells

Sometimes there is no way around a biological barrier, so molecules just go straight through the living guard. Transcytosis is a specialized process where a cell swallows material on one side, packages it securely, ferries it entirely across its interior, and expels it unchanged on the opposite side. It is basically an intracellular smuggling route heavily utilized by the immune system.
