Oxygen is actually a highly toxic, corrosive gas that slowly degrades our cells over time, leading to the physical deterioration we recognize as aging. It oxidizes our organic machinery in much the same way it rusts a piece of unprotected iron, causing cellular damage via free radicals that break down our DNA and tissue structures. We are utterly dependent on a chemical element that is simultaneously keeping us alive and meticulously breaking us down from the inside out. Every single breath you take is just a tiny, obligatory sip of atmospheric poison that temporarily delays death while guaranteeing you will eventually wake up with terrible joint pain and wrinkles!
