Scientists found a dinosaur's rusty-red camouflage

Under intense pressure and millions of years, the organic pigment structures called melanosomes do not entirely degrade; they chemically polymerize. By analyzing this residue in pristine fossils like the armored Borealopelta, scientists proved it sported rusty-red camouflage to hide from predators.
