How a rumpology reading is supposed to work
Rumpology is a form of fortune-telling in which a practitioner interprets the shape, dimples, and creases of a person’s buttocks. In some versions, the left cheek is read as a sign of the past and the right as a sign of the future. The practitioner turns ordinary bodily features into a symbolic map, then offers a personalized interpretation—sometimes for a fee.
That process is not a method for discovering hidden facts about someone’s life. The features being examined do not provide a reliable way to predict future events. The reading works instead as a performance of interpretation: the practitioner assigns meaning to visible details and presents a story the client can consider or respond to.
From novelty to paid reading
Rumpology has been promoted as a mystical practice, including by Jackie Stallone, the mother of actor Sylvester Stallone. Its appeal lies partly in the unusual premise: it borrows the familiar format of palm reading but shifts the supposed signs to a part of the body people rarely expect to be treated as a fortune-telling chart.
A paid reading follows the same basic exchange as other forms of divination: a client supplies personal attention and money, while the practitioner supplies an interpretation tailored to them. The important distinction is between a symbolic reading and evidence-based prediction. Rumpology may be offered as entertainment or personal reflection, but its claims about the future are not scientifically established.
