The most soothing man on television suffered for his brand. Before he was famous, Bob Ross wanted to save cash, so he got a tight perm that wouldn't require frequent trims. By the time 'The Joy of Painting' took off, his afro had become his logo. He actually despised the hairstyle, but was contractually obligated to keep his head looking like a happy little cloud.
