Despite sounding incredibly intimidating, alpha radiation is hilariously bad at actually traveling anywhere. These chunky helium nuclei get violently ejected from decaying atoms but are so massive they crash into practically the first thing they hit. You can completely block their transport path with a single sheet of notebook paper or literally just your dead outer layer of skin, defeating atomic decay with basic office supplies.
