In wakesurfing, a rider trails close behind a motorized source, drops the tow rope, and rides the endless, artificial wave left behind. Because you aren't being actively pulled, you are entirely reliant on the perfect hydrodynamics of the displaced water to keep moving forward. It is the closest thing to perpetual motion you can experience on a lake.
