To fully commit to his villainous, top-hat-wearing alter ego 'Coffin Joe,' Marins grew his thumbnails into curling, demonic talons for decades. He financed his nightmare fuel by selling his own furniture, dodging strict military dictatorship censors, and forcing his amateur cast to handle actual venomous spiders.
