In 1999, Sony heavily marketed the PlayStation 2's custom CPU as the 'Emotion Engine,' claiming the hardware was so advanced it could render complex character feelings and life-like interactions in real-time. It was entirely meaningless marketing drivel designed to sound like science fiction. While it was a powerful chip for 3D geometry, it absolutely did not care if you were crying during a boss fight.
