Nikola Tesla’s ultimate dream was wireless electricity, and the military is finally making it a practical reality. The US Naval Research Laboratory successfully demonstrated wireless power beaming by converting 1.6 kilowatts of electricity into a tight microwave beam. They shot this invisible ray of raw power across an entire kilometer to a rectifying antenna, which caught the microwaves and instantly converted them back into direct current electricity. It paves the way for a future where hovering drones never have to land to recharge.
