Why vinyl records cut the bass before pressing
HERE’S THE INTERESTING PART
Cutting totally perfect heavy audio into a physical groove would literally shatter the rigid record. Deep bass frequencies require massive grooves that take up entirely too much physical space on a disc. An older standard intentionally cuts the bass extremely heavily before pressing, requiring a specialized pre-amplifier to artificially boost it back.
