A closer look

Writers for The Simpsons jokingly predicted that the Walt Disney Corporation would eventually purchase 20th Century Fox in a brief visual gag during an episode that aired all the way back in nineteen ninety eight. The throwaway joke featured a sign outside the Fox studio lot declaring them to be a division of Walt Disney, intended purely as a cynical jab at corporate monopolies consuming the entertainment landscape. Two decades later, reality aggressively caught up with the satire when the mouse house actually bought the rival studio for seventy one billion dollars, acquiring the rights to the yellow animated family in the process. It is entirely possible that the writers of this legendary cartoon are actual time travelers, or perhaps we just live in a late-stage capitalist nightmare where every sarcastic joke about corporate greed eventually becomes an inescapable financial reality
