Sometimes the initial idea is so aggressively bad that you just have to respect the pivot. Harmonix originally considered a game where players manipulated a joystick peripheral to fly a musical helicopter, dodging obstacles to the beat of licensed tracks. Thankfully, someone pointed out that fake plastic guitars playing classic rock would probably sell a little bit better to teenagers hanging out in basements.
