Mark Twain predicted his own death by tying his entire astrological existence to the return of Halley's comet

Mark Twain was born in 1835, exactly when Halley’s Comet was visible. As a master of narrative drama, he proclaimed in 1909 that the Almighty had tied his life to the celestial object, and he expected to die when it returned the following year. In a terrifying stroke of coincidence that keeps astrologers deeply smug to this day, he died of a heart attack exactly one day after its closest approach to Earth in 1910.
