Martin Buber wrote a philosophical masterpiece about a tree

Most people just look at a tree and walk away, but Buber stared at one until it changed completely how we view human interaction. In his famous book 'I and Thou,' he extensively uses the example of deeply, intensely engaging with a tree without objectifying it, arguing that this pure, unmediated presence is the exact same way we must encounter other humans and the absolute divine.
