Long before Freud blamed all your dreams on your mother, a second-century mystic named Artemidorus wrote the 'Oneirocritica,' the definitive guide to dream interpretation. It was astonishingly specific. He claimed that dreaming of a badger meant you would become rich, but dreaming of eating cheese meant deceit and treachery were imminent. Clearly, the ancient Romans had a deeply antagonistic relationship with dairy that modern mysticism has tragically forgotten.
