Monaco is smaller than Central Park in New York City but somehow crams in more billionaires per capita than anywhere else on the planet. Covering just over two square kilometers, this tiny Mediterranean principality has survived for centuries mostly by offering a tax haven to people who have so much money they actively refuse to contribute to society. The local citizens, known as Monegasques, are actually forbidden by law from gambling in their own world-famous Monte Carlo casino, meaning the entire gambling economy relies exclusively on foreign tourists trying to act like James Bond. It is arguably the most concentrated area of unearned wealth and arrogance in existence, a place where you can watch people park multi-million dollar yachts just to sit on the deck and stare at slightly poorer people walking by on the sidewalk below
