A closer look
Octopuses possess nine brains, with a central nervous system and a smaller cluster of nerve cells at the base of each of their eight arms. Having decentralized processing power allows an octopus to let its tentacles explore, taste, and react to the environment entirely independently of the main brain. While you struggle to rub your stomach and pat your head simultaneously, an octopus is essentially running eight separate autonomous sub-routines. They use this immense biological computing power to unscrew jars from the inside, escape high-security aquarium tanks, and punch fish out of pure spite. Mother nature essentially created a squishy underwater supercomputer with a beak, and we are just lucky they only live for a couple of years before successfully unionizing and taking over the planet
