Why fight moblins when you could technically be fighting space fighter jets? During development, the Zelda team needed an enemy that flew dynamically to test Link's targeting system. They imported the Arwing code from Star Fox 64. They never fully deleted it from the cartridge, meaning modders can still summon a fully operational spaceship into the skies of Hyrule.
