A closer look
Humanity's greatest struggle used to be flipping a piece of metal three times before it finally went into a slot. Older ignition keys were single-sided, meaning you had a fifty percent chance of getting it wrong and looking like a complete fool while fumbling in the dark. Automakers eventually mercifully introduced symmetrical keys with cuts on both top and bottom, effectively doubling the odds of success to one hundred percent. It was a monumental victory for lazy people everywhere who refused to look down.
