Why let people rest together when you can stagger their weekends to maximize factory output? In 1929, the calendar was completely abolished in favor of a five-day rotating schedule where everyone had different days off. It utterly destroyed family dynamics and social gatherings before being quietly scrapped for being deeply miserable.
