During the 1895 Paris–Bordeaux–Paris race, Émile Levassor drove like a maniac for 48 hours straight, completely obliterating the competition. Upon finishing first, officials promptly disqualified him on a pedantic technicality because his car only had two seats instead of four, handing the historic win to a much slower, rule-abiding tractor.
