Airlines purposefully choose the most incredibly complex, dizzying, and downright ugly geometric patterns for the carpets on their airplanes to meticulously hide all the coffee spills, ground-in pretzel crumbs, and whatever mysterious fluids leak from terrified passengers; if they used a plain, solid color, every single traveler would immediately see the horrifying biological reality of a floor that is basically a petri dish flying at thirty thousand feet; the nauseating fabric design is essentially optical camouflage, tricking your brain into ignoring the sheer filth so you do not panic during boarding; it proves that instead of actually deep cleaning the aircraft between turnarounds, corporate management simply hired a brilliant interior designer to make dirt and vomit aesthetically blend into the upholstery
