A closer look
Innovation is often just highly motivated corporate jealousy. When Nintendo released the Rumble Pak in 1997, allowing players to actually 'feel' the game, Sony panicked. They quickly realized their original sleek controller was obsolete. They hastily strapped two rumbling motors into the grips, slapped some analog sticks on it, and named it the DualShock. It became the industry standard blueprint for literally every controller designed since.
