Succession’s theme was built from broken pianos
Composer Nicholas Britell didn't just want a catchy opening tune for a show about toxic billionaires. He deliberately utilized vintage, out-of-tune pianos to symbolize the Roy family's decaying moral compass. The resulting leitmotif brilliantly wraps grotesque, unearned wealth in a beautifully distorted classical hip-hop beat.
