Sometimes the sheer wholesomeness of television history is aggressively upsetting to cynical people. Early in the run of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood, a young blind girl wrote to Fred Rogers expressing deep anxiety that his on-screen fish were starving because she could not hear him feeding them. From that day until the show ended decades later, Rogers made a point to verbally declare 'I'm feeding the fish now' every single episode, just to ensure one child could sleep peacefully.
