Characters in soap operas frequently return from the dead

Death in daytime television is less of a permanent biological endpoint and more of a temporary unpaid vacation. Whether they were pushed out of a helicopter or blown up in a warehouse, the character will eventually stroll back into town three years later claiming they were just 'in hiding.' It renders every dramatic funeral on the broadcast completely utterly meaningless.
