Despite Mercury being literally right next to the sun, Venus steals the title of hottest planet due to a runaway greenhouse effect. Its thick, toxic environment traps heat so aggressively that surface temperatures easily reach eight hundred and eighty degrees Fahrenheit, which is more than enough to melt lead.
