Instead of breathing fire, this incredibly lazy serpent simply launches itself out of a tree. The jaculus is a winged, legless serpent that hides high up in tree branches, patiently waiting for an unfortunate traveler to pass underneath. Instead of biting, it simply coils up like a massive spring and launches itself downward like an aggressive organic javelin. It completely circumvents the need for complicated hunting tactics by turning its entire body into a rapid projectile.
