Automotive engines arrange cylinders in a V to save space

HERE’S THE INTERESTING PART

To jam massive horsepower into a tiny metal box, engineers just aggressively folded the block in half. Instead of lining up eight heavy pistons in an obnoxiously long row that would completely ruin a car's handling, they split them into two staggered banks connected to a single crankshaft. This tilted V shape severely shortens the entire assembly, keeping the vehicle balanced.
