When an Arrow Became an Answer
Belomancy is a form of divination that uses arrows to produce a choice. Instead of comparing reasons for and against, a person treats the arrow’s movement—or the sequence in which arrows are selected—as a sign to interpret. The method shifts the decision from deliberate argument to an outcome generated by a physical act.
Flight, Order, and Interpretation
An arrow in flight traces a visible path; a group of arrows can also be retrieved in sequence. In either case, the result is not automatically self-explanatory. The practitioner must connect what happened to the question, much as someone reading a drawn lot must know what each possible result means.
That makes the procedure more than simply asking chance to choose. The arrows provide an external event, while interpretation turns that event into guidance. A flight or retrieval order can settle a choice when the person asking feels unable to do so—but it does not weigh the practical consequences or explain why one option is better.
A Decision Made Visible
The striking feature of belomancy is how it gives uncertainty a concrete form. A difficult question becomes something that can be launched, watched, and read. The arrow does not make the decision rational; it makes the moment of choosing visible.
