Pearl Jam was once named after a basketball player

Before settling on a much safer moniker, the grunge legends known as Pearl Jam originally named themselves 'Mookie Blaylock' after the professional basketball player. They even named their debut album 'Ten' in honor of his jersey number. It is a wildly weird tribute from an incredibly serious rock band to a point guard who just wanted to play ball.
