Because why get out of your pajamas to pray? In the mid-20th century, enterprising ministers realized that empty drive-in movie theaters sat completely vacant on Sunday mornings. They rented the massive lots, allowing congregants to park their cars, hook the heavy metal theater speakers to their windows, and comfortably listen to a sermon without ever having to make actual eye contact with the pastor.
