Why the Dryer Can’t Follow You
A wall-mounted hotel hair dryer is designed to stay where it is: its holder keeps the appliance in a predictable spot, and its short coiled cord limits how far it can travel. The coil stretches when pulled and springs back when released, so it is less likely to trail across the bathroom or get caught on something.
That convenience comes with a tradeoff. The dryer’s reach depends on where the hotel installed the holder, not on where the mirror or sink happens to be. If the holder is off to one side, the cord may only let you dry your hair by standing close to it and turning toward the mirror.
A Small Fixture, a Fixed Routine
Unlike a handheld dryer you can carry around, the mounted version makes the bathroom layout part of the experience. The holder, cord length, and mirror position all have to work together—and guests inherit whatever arrangement the room provides. The coil’s neatness can save space, but it cannot make a poorly placed holder more convenient.
