Geopolitics used to be a lot more exciting. Gérard Encausse, better known as Papus, wasn't just a prominent occultist; he was fiercely anti-British. During the late 19th-century colonial scramble, he reportedly organized networks of European mystics to launch coordinated magical psychic attacks against the British Empire to stop their expansion. While history shows the British Empire did eventually fall apart, it was probably due to economics and post-war exhaustion rather than Papus sitting in a dark room intensely glaring at a map of London.
