Soap opera producers have absolutely zero respect for object permanence, and it is glorious. When an actor demands too much money or quits a daytime drama, the writers refuse to let the character die. Instead, the unlucky fictional person is traditionally thrown off a cliff, trapped in an exploding boat, or caught in a chemical fire. Months later, a completely different, noticeably taller actor arrives wrapped in bandages, claiming miraculous reconstructive plastic surgery gave them an entirely new face.
