Why every keypad button plays two tones

HERE’S THE INTERESTING PART

Every time you press a button on a keypad, you're dropping a microscopic musical chord. Dual-Tone Multi-Frequency (DTMF) signaling assigns a specific high frequency and low frequency to every row and column on the keypad. Pressing a number plays both corresponding tones at the exact same time, preventing the system from confusing the sound with random background noise.
