You might think 'Off-Broadway' describes edgy, experimental art that's geographically exiled from the main hub, but it’s just a real estate technicality. A theater is legally Off-Broadway purely if it seats between 100 and 499 people, regardless of its actual location in New York. It has zero to do with artistic merit and everything to do with union contracts.
