A closer look

Founders of Netflix seriously considered naming their revolutionary DVD rental service "Kibble" before finally settling on the brand name that currently dominates the global streaming industry; Marc Randolph temporarily used the name for their beta site because he believed that, much like dog food, a product is only successful if the dogs actually want to eat it, and while the logic is somewhat sound from a purely corporate perspective it is a truly terrible analogy to use when trying to pitch premium home entertainment to human consumers, because you just have to imagine inviting someone over to your apartment to "Kibble and chill" on a Friday night, which would have irrevocably ruined the entire cultural lexicon of the twenty-first century if they had stuck with that aggressively unappetizing brand identity, thankfully allowing cooler heads to prevail so we were spared the indignity of consuming our daily binge-watching garbage through an application named after heavily processed meat chunks
