Pirates of the Caribbean began as a ride, not a movie
Most movies get adapted into rides, but Disney pulled the ultimate reverse UNO card. Decades before the swashbuckling films made billions, it was just a clunky 1967 animatronic boat tour at Disneyland where robot pirates endlessly chased plastic women. They eventually retrofitted the old ride to include Jack Sparrow, effectively updating the source material to match the spin-off.
