A closer look

You might think your constant deaths in Spelunky are the result of cruel, uncaring computer generation, but the game is actually secretly holding your hand. Before Derek Yu's engine places a single spike or snake, it plots a "golden path" from the entrance to the exit. Once that navigable route is mathematically secured, the algorithm goes completely unhinged, vomiting chaotic, overlapping traps and enemies across the rest of the grid. It ensures that every time you die, it's definitively your fault, not a glitch in the cavern matrix.
