The original fatal pop stars of the ancient Mediterranean coast. Sirens did not physically overpower massive fleets; they just had a dangerously good vocal range. By singing melodies that sailors found completely irresistible, they caused entire ships to steer directly into fatal rocks. It is essentially the earliest recorded instance of a catchy tune completely destroying someone's entire day.
