You can thank a couple of pretentious mid-century Frenchmen for your childhood paranoia. The iconic, skin-crawling 'doo-doo-doo-doo' wasn't actually written for the show. It was aggressively cobbled together from two totally separate stock library tracks composed by Marius Constant, who had absolutely no idea his experimental guitar plucking had become the anthem for American weirdness until years later.
