A closer look
In 1974, the Betz family found a completely smooth, heavy metal sphere in the woods after a fire, which immediately started rolling around their house on its own and vibrating to guitar music. Naturally, the New Age community and UFO enthusiasts decided it was a highly advanced alien probe sent to spy on Florida. The military and the Navy were even called in to X-ray the supposedly extraterrestrial orb, only to eventually realize it was just a misplaced ball check valve from a very terrestrial piece of industrial logging equipment.
