In regions where larger pack animals simply could not fit on narrow, treacherous cliff edges, isolated farmers turned to the humble sheep. By strapping tiny, custom-made bags to their wooly sides, they forced these nervous herbivores to haul vital supplies up sheer inclines. It was incredibly slow, deeply inefficient, and required constant vigilance to stop the cargo from tumbling into ravines.
