A closer look
Most anime intros are just flashy montages of the main cast running toward the camera, but MAPPA Studios treated the Chainsaw Man opening like a maniacal cinephile's fever dream. Director Ryu Nakayama meticulously choreographed the characters to perfectly recreate iconic shots from western films like Pulp Fiction, The Big Lebowski, and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. It wasn’t just an aesthetic flex; aligning a chaotic demon-hunting anime with Quentin Tarantino and Coen Brothers framing subtly established the show's dark, absurdist tone before the first episode even began.
