Interior design gets really weird when you run out of cemetery space. The Sedlec Ossuary in the Czech Republic contains the bones of up to 40,000 plague victims and war casualties. Instead of burying them, a half-blind monk in the 15th century, and later a woodcarver in the 19th century, bleached the bones and arranged them into magnificent, macabre art pieces, including a massive chandelier containing every single bone in the human body. It is violently gothic.
